How to manage time

Managing time has become something that we find very difficult to do in this world, even as adults. Our priorities become a circle of events in our lives such as working, paying bills, meeting deadlines and just getting by from day to day. As children, we had our days planned out for us by our parents and schools. Unfortunately, most of us were never taught how to manage our own time by ourselves, so as we become adults, our education and work lives tend to become the priority.

That doesn’t matter now, because you can learn to manage time and set your priorities. Get started today and see what you can really accomplish!

Priorities –

What are your current priorities? It’s time to get out a pad of paper and pen to write this down. Look at them. Is this what you want for your life? Do your priorities seem out of place to you? Now, write down what your priorities need to be and what you want them to be.
Planning –

Use a daily planner to track your daily activities for one week. Take a look at them at the end of the week and rework your daily activities. While you are writing your daily plans think about how you can make your days more constructive and what you really want to accomplish. If you want to write a book, write that in your daily planner: “Write for 1 hour”.

Goals –

With planning comes goals. Manage time by setting and achieving the goals you set for yourself. Create things that you want to accomplish tomorrow, and write them in your daily planner along with any projects that are due. Where do you see yourself in one year? What do you want to have achieved by then? These will be your long-term goals.

Managing time is just like anything else we must learn; it takes practice and gets easier the more often we do it. There are things that can get in the way of managing our time.
Here are Some Things That Can Get in The Way of Time Management-

  • Procrastination
  • Feeling Overwhelmed
  • Wasting Time
  • Not Focusing and Feeling Determined

All of these things will probably affect you at some point in your life and will also effect your time management and goals. The key is to realize what is slowing you down and stop it in its tracks. When you know the enemy, you can better defeat it. Ask yourself why you are procrastinating, feeling overwhelmed, wasting time or not focusing. The answers will help you find the way to a daily routine, goals, plans and a lifetime of knowing that you are achieving what you want to. Try to never set a goal that is difficult to accomplish in the time period you set for it, especially in the beginning. You want to accomplish your goals, not feel like you can never reach them. Set some small goals for your time management at first and see what it feels like to accomplish something you set yourself to do!
